FDS says - "No need to check our work. Besides, it will only make God angry."
by Crisis of Conscience inthough i no longer believe the fds is indeed appointed by god, i guess because of what has been taught to me all these years through the wtbts, i still make an effort to try and look at both sides.
and then i come across this number below, which is how i arrived at my title for this thread.

Hey Ding. That is a great question to ask! I'm going to use it next time.
But I still expect to receive either a blank stare or a stupid answer. LOL

@ DesirousOfChange - Before my awakening, I did wonder why it was so expensive to host an assembly/convention. But I never dreamed of questioning it.
After my awakening and finding out what really goes on, I wasn't surprised. I rarely contributed in the past, but I never did after that also.
@ awaken2004 - I completely agree with you.
@ designs - Hosed indeed.

Failed prophecies - The usual response I've gotten is, "Yea, but have any of those hurt you in any way?"
I follow up with this face and then say, "Aren't we supposed to be truthful in the truth? If you make a prediction with the help of GOD'S SPIRIT, shouldn't you get it right?"
Well, it doesn't really matter to them I guess. Boy is that aggravating!

designs and 00DAD - Thanks for bringing up the contribution thing. It's pretty disgusting how even asking about such a thing upsets the die hards.
I only reached the rank of ministerial servant, but I heard this talked about by an elder personally and then also read it here.
As 00DAD said, it is indeed a double standard in comparison to what is expected of the congregations.
But if you don't obey, you just make the slave's work more difficult, and also anger God!

Atheists..... throwing the baby out with the bath water ?
by snare&racket inthis saying permeates this forum with higher frequency than most.
despite being an open atheist amongst lots of religious people in my life, i have never been accused of doing this and i have never heard this saying attributed to my choice... appart from here.. i thought it would be best to clarify why i (and i assume others) decided to leave the bible behind after leaving the wt society.. realising the wt society was wrong desroyed my world, for me it meant so much.
i had given so much to it too, it just had to be true!

00DAD - Great revision. Makes perfect sense. But know you've proven yourself contrary to the "slave"!
LOL Thanks for the comment.
